We employ an activities co- ordinators and a butterfly carer dedicated to tailoring activities that promoting independence, either one to one or in considered group therapy. We focus on ability rather than weakness, aiming to retain key skills for as long as possible.

People living with Dementia can often feel excluded from many social gatherings within society, at Rutland Manor our focus is based on individual care; ensuring that the individual is always at the centre of our thoughts. Where necessary, making best interest decisions for people that are based on extensive research of the person’s own values.

We recognise the enormous importance of good nutrition for enhancing the health and overall well being of people with dementia. To promote this we have protected mealtimes, free from unnecessary interruption, in our home allowing people to enjoy meal times where and how they choose, allowing people to graze throughout the day if they prefer. Snacks and drinks are provided during the day and night and we celebrate special events throughout the year with themed dinner parties.

We value the contribution and support from families and friends and invite you to be actively involved with events at the home, in any way you choose. We work with all our residents’ families to offer support and to help them understand the progression of dementia and how it is affecting their loved one.
